Document review without chasing every comment

Use supported document comments and updates as a cue to review what needs your input. Check the original, answer the question and keep edits and approvals in the right place.

Sharing a proposal is easy. Knowing which comment needs an answer before the work can move is harder. A question can sit between small edits, resolved discussions and notifications that do not need you.

Waveloom can review incoming information from the sources you configure and surface relevant signals. For document work, use that signal to return to the original and decide what needs your input.

Choose a supported update source

Connect the document app and inspect its listening options. For example, a Notion connection may offer a comment source that requires you to choose a page. Select the page you want to follow and ensure the integration has access to it.

Choose the event that matches the question. A new-page notification is not the same as a new comment, and neither guarantees that every edit to the document will be available. If the connection offers only on-demand tools, use chat to query it rather than expecting background updates.

Make the review priority explicit

Give Waveloom context about the work you are responsible for:

"Remember that the client handoff proposal is awaiting my scope review. Questions about what is included need my attention."

Here is an illustrative comment that would be worth investigating:

"The proposal includes a second review round, but the estimate only covers one. Which version should we send to the client?"

If that comment becomes a card, treat it as an invitation to check the document. It is not an instruction to change the estimate or approve the proposal.

Read the original before deciding

An incoming event may contain a comment or metadata, not the full document. Open the source to confirm:

  • The exact passage or decision under discussion.
  • Whether the comment is still unresolved.
  • Whether a later edit or reply already answers it.
  • Who needs your answer before continuing.

You can ask a follow-up in chat where the connected tools support it. Do not assume a feed summary includes every revision, attachment or permission-restricted section.

Keep the answer with the document

Resolve the discussion or edit the document in its original app. Document cards do not automatically include the reply actions available for eligible Gmail and Slack DM events.

If you request a supported write action through chat, review the proposed action before approving it. Waveloom does not edit the document or mark it approved just because a comment arrived.

What this workflow does not replace

This is not a version-diff tool, a document approval system or a complete audit trail. It does not compare every revision or guarantee that every unanswered comment will surface. Keep formal sign-offs and revision history in the tools your team already uses.

It is a practical way to notice a question between planned reviews. For the same problem in an issue tracker, see project blockers. For context before a review call, see meeting preparation.
